This Hallowe’en, get a taste for the wicked as Cannoli & Gun teams up with the award-winning Rosemarino on 19 & 26 October, to bring you the classic 1991 horror-thriller, Silence of the Lambs, preceded by a meal of homemade sage tagliatelle with chicken liver & fava beans… and a nice ‘Chianti’.
Back in 1991 there had been just one film starring the now-iconic Hannibal Lecter; Michael Mann’s 1986 thriller Manhunter, starring Brian Cox (not the scientist) as “Lecktor”.
But it would be Anthony Hopkins’ Oscar-winning performance that would make the character so memorable.
FBI student Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is the only person agent Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) thinks can successfully interview the imprisoned Dr Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins) a psychiatrist who may have an insight into a case he is working on. However, Lecter is also a murderous psychopath with a penchant for human flesh…
Silence of the Lambs is one of just three films to have won the “big five” Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay. It spawned a prequel and a sequel and, recently, a fantastic TV series detailing the time before any of Thomas Harris’s novels were set.
Over the past six months, we’ve sought to bring you, the people of Bristol, the best pairings of film and food at the best venues that Bristol has to offer. On Monday 26 October we’re joining up with the award-winning team at Rosemarino to serve up a gastronomically ghoulish treat.
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Taking inspiration from that iconic line, you will be treated to an exquisite dish of tagliatelle alla salvia con fegatini di polle e fave – homemade sage tagliatelle with chicken liver* & fava beans , together with a glass of ‘Chianti’. This isn’t usually on the menu, so this is the only opportunity to have this exclusive dish. And since Rosemarino just won Best Italian in the Bristol Good Food Awards, you know that this will be something quite special.
This will be a smaller affair than we have previously hosted, so there will be fewer tickets.
When: Doors open at 7.00pm, food served at 7.30pm, film starts at 8.00pm, Monday 26 October, 2015
